Ingredients:

1 and 3/4 cups all purpose flour, 1 and 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 and 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 1 cup whole milk (or non-dairy milk for vegan), 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tbsp white vinegar or fresh lemon juice, 1 cup boiling water.

Instructions:

Add the milk , vegetable oil, vanilla extract, vinegar ( or lemon juice ). Mix well to combine. Gradually add the boiling water to the batter and stir until smooth ( the batter will be thin, which is fine ).Divide the batter equally between the two prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely before frosting.

1/2 cup unsalted butter or fresh cream or margarine for vegan version, 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 3 cups powder sugar, 1 tbs vanilla extract,
